Sometimes, beauty and victory do go together... -_-_-_-
Kalonice cautiously padded down the path through the Fields of Punishment, shivers running down her spine. Hestia had sent her to accompany Cohn in his quest, to make sure he returned safely. But Kalonice didn't see how that made any sense. She wasn't even sure if she was going to return safely, much less Cohn. Hades was damn frightening, and the few demigods that were sent on quests to the Underworld came back screaming and bloody. Not a good sign. But Kalonice didn't have time to think about what might happen to her. Her main goal at the moment was finding Cohn. That kid was so quiet a mouse would be impressed. Finally she was approaching the end of the path. But what she saw up ahead made her blood run cold. Well, colder. Cohn was there, but he wasn't alone. A tall, dark figure loomed over him, coming closer and closer. A knot tightened at the pit of Kalonice's stomach. Hades. She quickly darted away from the path, slinking around a wall that separated the Fields of Punishment from the rest of the Underworld. She ducked behind it and paused, her muscles tense, hoping to hear what they were saying.

"It'll be My Lady to you." the gaurd said in a boyish southern accent. Hades stopped and turned. She thought Southern accents souded stupid. She made a point of not hiring them. Why was he here?
"I hate southern accents. Why were you hired?" she asked, narrowing her eyes at the gaurd, considering locking him up too.
"My lady, I volunteered." Hades nodded and turned. Figured. She was rather tempted to lock him up for the fun of it, but decided that was a waste of space. The gaurd could stay.
"Hermes, eh? Why would they send a weak demi-god like you here alone?" She wondered breifly if he was a distraction but figured, if he was, her gaurds would handle the other. Fools.

Kalonice held back a giggle. Southern accents? Perhaps she chose to eavesdrop at the wrong time. Then she tensed again, her hand on her dagger. Hades was right. Cohn was a weak demigod. But that was why she was there. All Hestia had told her was that Cohn had to get to Elysian to retrieve an important object from a dead guy. Sounded easy enough. But physically getting to Elysian without dying themselves was the hard part. Kalonice took a chance and peered around the corner. All she could see were those bright, crimson eyes. She was entranced for a moment, then she quickly pulled back, every muscle in her body locked up with fear. What if Hades had seen her?

He felt like he had been circling his own words. Or was he walking in circles? He was probably walking in circles, now that he thought about it. Cohn felt somehow dizzy, even though he walking at a very fast pace. "I'm h-here to retrieve the - thing - from th-the person..." Now he felt betrayed by Hestia. Hestia - who had sent him to find something from someone who he didn't know, through her majesty's domain.

Hades walked for many more minutes, passing torches. The black stone walls were exactly the same the whole way, no cracks and crevices and no bumps. It was a beautiful wall. Finally reaching the bottom there was a huge room, with very few small torches so you could see nearly nothing in this room. There were shackles that were rusted and jagged looking, spread far apart from eachother so you could olny see two. They were, as already said, rusted by there was not a drop of water down here.
She took a step foreward before stopping. There was someone here. Who wasn't a prisoner, gaurd, or the boy. There was someone else. Perhaps someone hoping to rescue the boy? Ah yes, must be it.
"You may as well come out now. You wont get away."

Kalonice froze. Hades sensed her. She was a goner. But only one question ran through her head. "Should I risk staying here and hiding? Or should I give up and show myself?" Kalonice figured the odds of her survival for each choice. If she stayed there, she knew that Hades would defiantly find her at some point and most likely torture and kill her. Not a good sign. But if she surrendered now, Hades might be more merciful later...She was screwed either way. So Kalonice decided that it was better to come clean rather than slink around in the Fields of Punishments. She slowly walked around the corner and presented herself to Hades. And with each step, only one word came to mind. 'shitaki mushrooms with steak on the side. shitaki mushrooms with steak on the side. shitaki mushrooms with steak on the side.' She bowed. "Hello, My Lady." She addressed her. "I am Kalonice Halkias, daughter of Artemis. I have been sent to assist Cohn in his quest." She looked up, (or, down, rather) and resisted the urge to gulp as she was stared right in the face by her worst fear. Who would've guessed the scariest thing alive was shorter than a 17 year old girl. "I hope it's no trouble." She said meekly, her voice cracking.

Hades smirked. This girl had at least answered all the questions first time around. Artemis. She HATED Artemis. Well, in truth she hated all of the other gods. Artemis was really just an overgrown child. That was Hades complaint about her.
''Well then. The more the merrier" She said, red eyes glinting dangerously, her voice risen in fake cheerfulness that made the gaurd glance around nervously. He was a new one... hadn't had a good scare yet.
She turned and walked off into the darkness, knowing they would follow.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Cohn spared a pitying glance at the child of Artemis. He never wanted anyone else to suffer - whatever it was they were going to suffer. Hades seemed to have no pattern, and there was no possible way to figure out what they were going go through. Even though his glance was pityingly, he barely had any other emotion then fear to give to her. Cohn had only been bullied once in his entire existence, usually just getting along with everyone and everything, floating along in a dreamy state. The bone chilling mist came back, even though Cohn was sure they were underground and not outside. Of course one of the doors in the mind-twisting... castle? Dungeon? Might have been open. Though this mist just seemed to come from every direction, swarming them on the stairs. Cohn felt as though he had shackles chained to his hands. But Hestia couldn't have set him up to die! Or be tortured, or whatever in the name of Olympus was going to happen to him. Hestia wasn't one to abandon him, or any of the demigods. Even as he spoke those words in his mind, he found that they were hollow words, echoing against a hollow mind.

Kalonice looked at Cohn, who stared at her with pity in his eyes. This angered her. She did not need his pity. What she needed was to find a way out of here. But she knew deep down that this would be impossible. She was already doomed. Kalonice would never get out of the Underworld without being tortured first, or worse she would never come out at all. As Hades ascended the staircase, Kalonice felt something like desperation crawl it's way into the pit of her stomach. Yes, that's what it was. Desperation and fear. "E-e-excuse me, Miss." She said in a meek voice, wincing at the piercing red irises that fixed on her. "Er, m-me and my friend were hoping we could visit Elysian, to complete our quest..." She trailed off it was no use. Hades would never let them off the hook that easy. She was probably deciding her form of torture right now. She looked away, refusing the tears that came to her eyes. Then she turned back to Hades, her eyes on her feet. "What I meant to say was, if you are going to kill us, please let it be quick." She looked up at Hades, hoping her knees would not give out on her. "And that I thank you, for my father always said that the strongest warriors die in the hands of their greatest fear." She bowed slowly, tears blurring her vision. She quickly wiped them off with her sleeve. When she came back up, she realized how weak and foolish she must sound to the great goddess. "I-I apologize..."

Hades stared into the girls eyes, studying them carefully. She did not bother to reply, the girl -as she would call her, refusing to call her by name- was smart enough to know the answer. Headstrong too, she refused to cry. That bothered Hades immensly. Maybe Hades would let the girl and the boy out sooner, but not until the girl cried.
"Yes well, then your father was a fool. The strongest warrior does not die. The strongest is carried on by memories of what they have done. You- are no strong warrior. Do not compliment yourself girl." She said, not bothering to hide her emotions in her voice. Boredom. She was sick of being in the dark (not physically dark) but being on the outside. She wanted Zues's place. They could rot with the titans for all she cared.
Hades walked slowly to Cohn, grabbing him by the wrist, making marks in his skin as she put his arms in heavy shackes that made him stand on his tiptoes.

Kalonice's eyes widened at Hades response. Anger rose up inside of her. No one, not even the goddess of the Underworld called her father a fool. Not even the sight of Cohn in his shackles could hold her back now. Hades moved in front of them again, and she made her move. She might as well overcome her fears now, for she was quite sure she was dieing today anyway. Tears streamed down her face now, a enraged look upon her face. She unsheathed her sword. No one...calls my father a fool. She breathed, her voice a low growl. She realized that Hades could not die, for she was a goddess. But she hoped this made her realize that She was not the fool she took her for. And lives to tell the tale. If you were not a goddess, and a superior that I respect, She paused, her lips drawn back into a snarl. I would rip your blackened heart out of your chest. She finished. She was terrified, but she let none of that emotion escape from within her as she kept Hades at sword's length...for now. She knew that eventually Hades would become angered rather than bored and amused and kill them both, and it would most likely be her fault. She spared a glance at Cohn, and looked at his shackles. She looked back up at Hades, then let out a loud breath as she busted through the chains with her sword. It took all of her strength, and she was left breathing short gasps of air. She sheathed her sword and looked up at Hades with a glare in her eyes, threatening to be more than a slight annoyance before her demise. -_-_-_-

Cohn's wrists were already rubbed raw by the shackles, and they were bleeding. Cohn watched the exchange with wide eyes, the last specks of blood draining from his face. The clicking of chains hitting the floor caused Cohn to gasp, and the daughter of Artemis's words struck like pebbles against his skin. She was going to kill them both. "N-no!" He gasped, throwing himself weakly against her. He didn't even throw himself - it was more of him sagging against her. Cohn didn't want to die. He wanted to see his mothers face again, and the butterflies, and the plants, and the gods... the gods that abandoned him? No! They never abandoned him! Ever! But a small voice inside his head whispered that it was just too perfect...him, alone, in the Fields of Punishment. Cohn shook his head a little bit to get rid of the whispering voice, but it wouldn't leave. "Y-you're going to g-get us-s-s-s k-k-k-k-k-" Once again, he couldn't finish his sentence, the bone chilling mist swirling around his tired ankles sending freezing chills up his spine that chattered his teeth together. And the small voice, always hissing evil thoughts inside his head, made him lose a bit of focus on what he was saying...or trying to say.

Hades sighed, feisty one. The shackles-now broken- fell to the ground with a resounding clang. The other prisoners might have said something on this about a week ago, but a week ago their moaning and anger had stopped, to be replaced with a broken horse type of given up.
"Great, now I have to get new ones. You know how hard it is to make or find new shackles in this day and age? No, you don't, you people, you demigods NEVER think about the money it costs to replace it, the effort to be put into replacing it, and how many angry gaurds there are now because they have to replace it! Not te mention now i have to find somewhere even darker. The prisoners over there" she gestured into the darkness "Would LOVE to have this spot."
She finished her rant with a pissed off sigh.
"WHY can't bed bath and beyond sell shackles? Preferably pre-rusted."
At that moment she noticed that she was now at swords length from Kalonice and that kid was sputtering about something or other on the ground. Huh. If she didn't know that old age had no affect on gods...she would be worried.
"Well... come on. we have to find another spot" she said, still sounding rather annoyed.

Kalonice stared at Hades in confusion, lowered her sword a couple of centimeters. Money? Angry guards? Bed, Bath and Beyond? She sounded like an angry mother, scolding her children. She almost felt compelled to apologize and follow her. Then she stopped, feeling foolish. She sheathed her sword, raising an eyebrow at Hades as she started away. She cautiously put one foot forward, glancing at Cohn for him to follow. She almost felt embarrassed by the things she had said to Hades, so she followed at a distance. She kept her head low and stepped lightly, afraid to do anything else to upset the goddess further. -_-_-_-
